Overview

Enhance Acceptance Criteria is an inline AI action available in the Story Detail view. It reads the story description and uses Monty to generate structured acceptance criteria — without leaving the story page. The generated AC can be copied or applied directly to the story.

Input requirements

Monty generates acceptance criteria from the story description, so a meaningful description is required:

Steps

1Open the Story Detail view for the story you want to add acceptance criteria to
2Ensure the story description meets the minimum length requirements
3In the Acceptance Criteria section of the story, click Generate AC with AI (✨)
4Monty generates acceptance criteria based on the story description and title
5Review the generated criteria — a note reads: "AI can make mistakes. Please validate all the generated content."
6Choose an action:
  • Copy to Clipboard — copies the generated AC without modifying the story
  • Replace Acceptance Criteria — replaces any existing AC with the generated set

Tips for better results

  • A detailed, specific story description produces more relevant AC — vague descriptions produce generic criteria
  • If the generated AC misses important cases, add those cases manually after applying the AI output
  • Use AC criteria in Given/When/Then format for consistency — Monty will try to produce this format when the description is clear enough

Troubleshooting

The Generate AC with AI button is disabled

The story description must meet the minimum character and word count. Add more detail to the description and try again.

The generated AC does not match the story

Improve the story description to be more specific about user roles, expected behaviours, and edge cases. Then regenerate.

I replaced existing AC by mistake

There is no undo for AC replacement. If the original AC was important, check the story's activity history for the previous version, or manually re-enter the criteria.
