Session Restore

StoryCraft AI

Overview

StoryCraft AI automatically saves your session as you work — your text input, AI configuration, and the last successfully generated output are all persisted locally. If you close the browser tab, refresh, or navigate away, your work is waiting for you when you return.

How it works

When you return to the StoryCraft AI page after a previous session, a banner appears at the top of the page:

"↻ Previous session restored · saved {time ago}"

The last successfully generated stories are restored in the Review & Export panel. Your text description and configuration settings are also restored. Dismiss the banner with ×.

Uploaded images

Uploaded images cannot be stored in the session. If an image was in use when you left, the restore banner includes an additional note:

"Your screenshot could not be restored — please re-upload it."

Re-upload the image and click ✨ Generate with Monty to get fresh results. The same limitation applies to video and document uploads — only the text input and configuration are saved between sessions.

Clearing the session

To discard the restored session and start fresh, click ↻ Start Freshin the page header. This clears all input, configuration, and generated stories.

Closing mid-generation

If you close the tab while a generation is in progress, the generation is interrupted. When you return, the session banner shows the last successfully completed output — not the in-progress one. You will need to click Generate again to produce new results.

Troubleshooting

No session restore banner appeared

Session restore only activates if a previous session was saved. If this is a new browser, private/incognito window, or the local storage was cleared, no session data exists to restore.

The restored stories are outdated

The session saves the last successfully generated output. If you generated multiple times and closed mid-way through the latest run, you will see the previous completed set. Click Generate to produce fresh results.

I want to continue where I left off but the image is gone

Re-upload the image using the Image tab. The text description, AI configuration, and generated stories from the last run are all restored — only the image file itself needs to be re-uploaded.
