Saving to Backlog

StoryCraft AI

Overview

Stories generated by StoryCraft AI exist only in the Review & Export panel until you explicitly save them. You can save stories one at a time, or use bulk save in Video mode to save multiple stories in a single action.

Saving a single story

1On the story card, click the backlog icon, or open the Artifact Details drawer and click πŸ“‹ Add to Backlog
2The Add to Backlog modal opens with the title, description, and acceptance criteria pre-filled and editable
3Add or remove acceptance criteria using + Add criterion and Γ—
4Add tags using the Tags field
5Click Create Backlog Item β€” the button changes to "Creating…" while saving
6On success: "βœ“ Added to Backlog" appears with the assigned Item ID

Bulk save (Video mode)

Video mode includes checkboxes on each story card so you can select multiple stories and save them all at once:

1Use the checkboxes on story cards to select stories, or click Select All
2Click πŸ’Ύ Save Selected ({count})
3A preview modal shows: "{count} Stories will be created. {skipped} Stories already in backlog (will be skipped)."
4Click Save {count} Stories to confirm
5A progress view shows each story with a status icon: β—‹ pending β†’ β—Œ processing β†’ βœ“ success / – skipped / βœ• failed
6When complete, a summary shows: "{successCount} created, {failedCount} failed, {skippedCount} skipped"

After saving

Once saved, the story card shows "βœ“ In Backlog" with the Item ID. Opening the Artifact Details drawer shows the same linkage under Backlog Linkage. The story is now a full backlog item and can be managed from the Story List, Scrum View, or Sprint Board.

Saving a story again (re-submitting the same artifact) will create a duplicate backlog item β€” there is no de-duplication by content. Use the backlog item ID shown on the card to locate the existing item if needed.

Troubleshooting

The Add to Backlog button is missing

This can happen if no branch is selected. Make sure a Branch is selected in the Input panel β€” this is where the story will be saved.

The save failed

Check your network connection and that the project is still active. Try saving again. If the failure persists, note the story content and create the backlog item manually.

I saved the same story twice by accident

Saving creates a new backlog item each time. Delete the duplicate from the Story List or defect the item number shown on the second "In Backlog" card to identify and remove it.
